BUNKER RENOVATION PROJECT

January 5, 2009

Bunker renovation at Ravenwood began this past autumn.  Faery’s Golf and Landscape Inc., of Ransomville, NY has been selected to rebuild all 68 bunkers at the course.  Faery recently completed bunker renovations in the Rochester area at Midvale Country Club and Monroe Golf Club.

Three bunkers on the approach to the 18th green were completed before heavy snow moved in and shut down the operation in mid-November.  The project will resume in the spring and should take approximately 4 or 5 weeks to complete.  The course will stay open while the work is being completed in April.

The primary scope of work for each bunker will include the removal of old sand and “bunker liner” material, the cutting of new bunker edges, the addition of interceptor drains to improve drainage and the addition of brand new tour grade “signature” sand.

Renovation of the bunkers will enhance playability and aesthetics at the course.  Ravenwood is known for its fair and challenging layout and firmer sand will add to the playability of the bunker.  Interceptor drains will help to minimize the effect prolonged heavy rain has on the bunkers.

The bunker renovation will further enhance the already highly regarded course.  Additional projects at Ravenwood will range from improving aesthetics, to enhancing course playability, and to staging more enjoyable events.  One project already underway is the addition of concrete curbing and asphalt cart paths.  Other major projects are being planned and will soon begin.

Ravenwood Golf Club is frequented by golfers for outing events and 1-3 day golf excursions.  Ravenwood Golf Club is the ideal location to have your golf outing, banquet, or wedding.  The Ravenwood Golf Academy offers first rate instruction for players at any age or ability level with certified and experienced teachers led by PGA Director of Instruction Paul Sanders.
